Our Story

How We Started

My name is Daren Anderson, and I started my roofing career in 1988 as a shake roof cleaner and repairman. In the years following, from 1989 to 1991, I chose to serve as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Netherlands, where I learned to speak Dutch. Upon completion of my mission, I returned home, married Rachelle, and started a family while attending school. I eventually earned my Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Brigham Young University.

Shortly after graduating, I worked as a financial analyst during the week while subcontracting shake cleaning and repair services on the weekends. As it turned out, I was earning more on the weekends than during the week! I approached Rachelle with the "crazy" idea of quitting my day job to start my own company, and in 1996, we launched our full-service roofing business. It was a huge success, and I enjoyed building it over the next decade.

In 2006, I was approached by State Farm Insurance Company to become an agent, a career path I had never before considered. We made the decision to put roofing operations on hold to pursue this new opportunity. Over the past 20 years, I have built my State Farm agency in Lincoln, CA into a thriving business that continues to this day. Even while focused on insurance, I stayed connected to the roofing industry as a Responsible Managing Officer, qualifying and training other companies while managing their licensing and operations.

The Next Generation

That brings us to today! My nephew, Jase, became an insurance agent and started working for me a little over a year ago. I presented the idea to Jase of restarting the roofing business using my original name from 20 years ago: California Roofing + Repair. Jase and I decided to go into business together along with my sons, Nick and Anthony.

California Roofing + Repair LLC received its operating license from the Contractors State License Board on March 5, 2026, and we are now open for business. I am excited to train the next generation of my family in a trade that has played such a big role in my life. We are, and will remain, a company you can confidently refer to your family and friends.
